The XXVIII World Congress of Poets is going to be held in Acapulco, México from the 12th to 16th of October 2008 and it is a great honor for us to invite all poets of the world to come with us.

The magnificent natural and cultural patrimony of Mexico identifies us like one of the most attractive tourist destinies.  Acapulco is one of the most beautiful places in the world: its diverse landscape, the warm breeze, the exuberant and varied vegetation, the calm sea, its cliffs, the light of its sky, the mysterious daybreaks and sunsets and the natural formation of both of its bays make it a place unique in its genre. All of this, in addition to the celebrities who visit it, and the happy generosity of its inhabitants, has contributed to increase the fame of this beautiful place, of this permanent and ocean blue fiesta.

Na, poet, translator, critic from the Philippines and Dr. Maurus Young

Dr. Maurus Young, who starts the Chinese page, is a poet, author, journalist and historian, born in 1933, published 14 books, including 6 poetry collections: “A Selection of Poems by Maurus Young”, 1972; “A Jar of Wine”, 1993; “Chants of a Stranger”, in tri-lingual: Chinese, English, French, 1993; “Trio”, in tri-lingual: Chinese, English, French; 2005; “Wings of Fire”, translated from English into Chinese written by Dr. Abdul Kalam, poet, scientist and 11^th President of India, 2007; “The Life Tree”, translated from English into Chinese, written by Dr. Abdul Kalam, poet, scientist and 11^th President of India, 2007. He obtained a Doctorate Degree from the national Paris University in France in 1986 and has been serving as secretary general for the U.S. World Academy of Arts and Culture and the World Congress of Poets since 1994. His poems have been translated and published in Chinese, English, French, Spanish, Slovakian, Greek, Korean and Mongolian languages. Dr. Young recently became advisor of the board of the cultural Foundation Ithaca, Altea, Spain.

When I am dead, lay me down between the Yangtze

And the Yellow River and pillow my head

On China, white hair against black soil,

Most beautiful O most maternal of lands,

And I will sleep my soundest taking

The whole mainland for my cradle, lulled

By the mother-hum that rises on both sides

From the two great rivers, two long, long songs

That on and on flow forever to the East.

This the world's most indulgent roomiest bed

Where, content, a heart pauses to rest

And recalls how, of a Michigan winter night,

A youth from China used to keep

Intense watch towards the East, trying

To pierce his look through the darkness for the dawn

Of China. So with hungry eyes he devoured

The map, eyes for seventeen years starved

For a glimpse of home, and like a new-weaned child

He drank with one wild gulp rivers and lakes

From the mouth of the Yangtze all the way up

To Poyang and Tungt'ing and to Koko-Nor *.

Time and Eternity

I do not know if time is flame or flow,

I only know through the fingers its drip

Leaves a hand dry and hollow,

Too feeble a fist for a grip.

I only know how often it singes

A brow, how often youthful passion

Leaves a heart scorched with longing

And burned down to a heap of ash

That a new phoenix may break its way

Out, its trembling wings freedom-bound.

Unknown if Eternity is fire or flood

Or neither burns up or whirls around.
