The wind, I remember, the light
and your face among the rushes,
a strange pallid face,
unsettling.                                        

I felt that I knew you
from a long ago dream,
an inkling, a
revelation –

Oh gods, gods …            

I rose,
I flew home, as if
with hair ablaze, the washing
adrift in the water …
